Jennie Kim, known mononymously as Jennie, is a South Korean singer, rapper, actress, and fashion icon. She gained international fame as a member of the K-pop girl group BLACKPINK, which debuted in 2016 under YG Entertainment.


Born on January 16, 1996, in Bundang, Seongnam, South Korea, Jennie moved to New Zealand at the age of eight, where she attended Waikowhai Intermediate School in Auckland. She returned to South Korea in 2010 to join YG Entertainment as a trainee. After six years of rigorous training, she debuted as the main rapper and lead vocalist of BLACKPINK on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One .
